This 5,000 square foot lot in the Brooke Smith neighborhood located near The Greater Heights in Houston, Texas, features a massive 200-year-old oak tree at its Northwest corner. We envisioned a Craftsman-style home for this lot and decided to design and build a home around this oak tree. After retaining the services of a well-known local arborist, we implemented a process to save the oak tree from effects of the construction process. The final product is a 3,000 square foot, new construction home with high ceilings and an open floor plan. The home has four-bedrooms, 3 baths, a private office with built-ins, formal dining, a spacious Chef-inspired professional kitchen with a 6 foot x 10 foot huge island, hand-built custom cabinetry throughout with an open and spacious floor plan for busy lifestyles. The customized cabinetry in the closets maximized storage and organization, and this closet-styling can be seen throughout our homes. Finally, the wrap-around front and side patios along with a balcony to enjoy the massive oak tree, make outdoor living a possibility in this friendly neighborhood.
