1950s Ranch-Style home that was about 1,600 square feet, with a typical closed-off floor plan and eight-foot ceilings throughout. Our clients wanted an open floor plan with a nice master area, plenty of storage and a patio. We demolished the interior down to the studs but kept everything we could. We always try to minimize what goes into landfills and cutting down trees. We poured an addition for the master area’s closets and bath and also for a covered back patio. We changed locations of some windows and doors and reframed the entire interior for higher ceilings, raising them to 10 feet at minimal cost. We worked closely with our clients on finishing selections, using lively tile patterns and paint colors that complement the home. The engineered floors are scratch-resistant and durable, and the final 2400 square foot product is a light, bright home with a modern floor plan that meets our clients’ needs.
